It was a rainy afternoon with hailstones in some parts of the capital city, Windhoek, presenting a welcome relief from the past days of hot weather conditions.

Last week, the capital city experienced warm to hot temperatures of between 28 and 35 degrees Celsius.

The thundershowers, say the weather forecasters, will persist over the interior for the rest of the day into early next week.
