Works and Transport Minister John Mutorwa has inaugurated the NaTIS office at the Helao Nafidi Town Council premises in the Ohangwena Region.
The office is part of the Roads Authority's quest to bring services closer to the people for effective and efficient service delivery across the country.
The opening of the offices is a collaboration between the Roads Authority and the Helao Nafidi Town Council, which is providing the facility.
Mutorwa cautioned the public to be vigilant not to become victims of criminal syndicates who source money from an unsuspecting public by pretending to be Natis officials.
"Natis responsibility must be acquainted with the duties and responsibilities of the Home Affairs Ministry that are responsible for our own identities. Because if you do not have that proper identity, there will be chaos on the road because everyone will just start driving, whether you have a licence, whether the vehicle is roadworthy, or whether you have overloaded, and we are a country ruled by law. We want order, we want safety and security in our country."
Helao Nafidi Town Mayor, Darius Shaalukeni, has pledged the council's readiness to closely work with the Roads Authority for the benefit of the residents.
"This service will then improve service delivery by providing NATIS services to our people, enhance the social well-being of our residents and stimulate economic growth."
The mayor called on local businesses to start with the business of printing number plates, thereby ensuring that all services are well within the reach of the town.
