The Namibia Film Commission (NFC) is on a regional resource mobilisation tour and stakeholder engagement in the Erongo Region.

The weeklong campaign is part of the Commission's turnaround strategy that aims to transform the film industry into a world-class industry of excellence and attract major foreign film productions.

"Amongst the many engagements that we had, we happened to meet up with various film facilities, filmmakers, and corporate entities in Erongo to learn about challenges they face to boost the industry in the region," said Hosea Idipo, Media Officer at the NFC.

NFC also engaged industry partners at the just concluded Swakopmund International Trade Expo.

The commission had fruitful business-to-business meetings with captains of the corporate and business sectors.

The engagements, the commission says, are key in exploring inclusive smart partnerships and sustainable economic integration by key industry players.

"From the 90 foreign film permits issued by the film commission this year, about 37 were filmed in the Erongo region, which created 127 local jobs and N$17 million in direct economic spending in our economy."

The resource mobilisation drive continues with visits to other regions planned.

The NFC is calling on all stakeholders to come on board.
