The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Peya Mushelenga, has called on regional authorities to embrace and drive the Nationhood and National Pride(NNP) campaign.
Speaking during the regional stakeholders' engagement at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region, Dr Mushelenga emphasised the role of the regional leadership in spearheading and ensuring the successful implementation of the campaign in the region.
Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba launched the NNP campaign in 2011 to support and sustain individuals in promoting a sense of duty, belonging, and responsibility to the nation.
After the launch, the ministry, as the custodian of the national campaigns, established regional forums, but these never materialised.
This is the reason why the ministry has now decided to undertake the regional engagements to solicit inputs on how best the NNP campaign can be cascaded down and implemented in the regions.
Speaking at the same event, Ohangwena Region Governor Walde Ndevashiya said the engagements will enhance the nation's understanding of the campaign and help the regional leadership successfully implement it.
