The Popular Democratic Movement's Shadow Finance Minister, Nico Smit, has shot down the medium-term budget for the remainder of the 2022–2023 financial year.

The Minister of Finance presented a budget of N$4 billion, for which, in his analysis, Smit said the government has no money to effect additional expenditures.

While highlighting past years of poor revenue collection, the "failed" Targeted Intervention for Employment and Economic Growth (TIPEEG) program and the collapse of Green Scheme projects, Smit, therefore, feels the additional budget will be unattainable.

The PDM MP said the road ahead is full of uncertainty.

The debate on the medium-term budget review continues next week.
