A heart attack is the end stage of a health issue that develops over the years.

The process rarely shows any symptoms, and therefore a doctor's check-up and a healthy lifestyle are needed to avoid them.

These sentiments were shared by Dr. Simon Beshir, a cardiologist, during the remembrance ceremony of the late Ignatius Shixwameni, who died of a heart attack at parliament last November.

"The disease that causes a heart attack develops over a long time. It's the end stage of something that has been developing in the body for maybe ten to thirty years, gradually worsening from bad food and a lack of exercise."
