A strike by employees of CIS Security Services at Rundu entered its third day, with workers saying the company has allegedly failed to pay them for the past three months.
The company employs 49 guards for its security services contract at the University of Namibia's Rundu Campus.
The workers vowed to continue their strike and only return to work once they received their outstanding salaries.
However, the company's manager and secretary at Rundu went missing after making promises to the striking workers.
The guards claim they do not receive salary slips, except for paper cuttings containing only employee names and amounts owed, written in pen.
The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters at Rundu turned up in solidarity with the guards, demanding that UNAM terminate its contract with the company.
Shifotoka also condemned the company for using workers without signing contracts and for its "willy-nilly hire and fire style".
Namibia Independent Security Union Regional Coordinator Benedictus Rumapa says at least three cases of employers not paying their workers are pending.
Ignatius Chunga, the owner of CIS Security Services' mobile, went unanswered after several attempts, and he did not respond to questions sent to him via SMS.
The guards also alleged that the company operates at the gate of the Unam Rundu Campus, as it does not have an office in the town.
Contacted for comment, UNAM Public Relations Officer Shahid Dickson promised UNAM would look into the matter through relevant departments before responding.
