President Hage Geingob has urged the Swapo Party's rank and file to prepare for 2024 as the task ahead is heavy.

Dr. Geingob was elected unopposed as the Party President, while Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah retained her position as the Vice-President at the 7th Swapo Party Congress.

President Geingob has been consistent in the built-up to the seventh congress, saying that its outcome would be historical for the governing party, either in a female candidate or male candidate below the age of 60.

The Party will now have a female presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndwaitwah in the 2024 national elections.

Nandi-Ndaitwah obtained 491 votes to deputise Geingob who was elected as President unopposed, while Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and Pohamba Shifeta got 270 and 91 votes respectively.

The President congratulated Nandi-Ndaitwah, Sophia Shaningwa who also retained her position as Secretary-General with 440 votes against contender Armas Amukwiyu's 343 votes.

The President emphasised the inter-party democracy but cautioned against complacency ahead of the 2024 national elections where the Party will face off against opposition parties for the heart and soul of Namibian voters.
