If she emerges victorious in the 2024 national elections, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will be Namibia's first woman president.
Experts point to her vast wealth of experience in international relations as among her strengths.
Let's get a glimpse of who Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has been a member of the National Assembly since 1990.

At the government level, she served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Information, and Broadcasting at the time, then Minister of Women and Child Welfare, Environment and Tourism, International Relations and Cooperation as well as Deputy Prime Minister.

Politically, Nandi-Ndaitwah made history when she became the first woman to be elected SWAPO Party Vice President at its 6th Congress.

She served as a member of the Swapo Central Committee and Political Bureau, President of NANAWO, SWAPO Chief Representative in East Africa, and SWAPO Chief Representative for International Relations.

Nandi-Ndaitwah - the woman empowerment advocate, has a firm voice and she is unfazed when she drives her message home.

Today she sat calm and collected as she waited for the announcement that would either reaffirm her incumbent position as Vice President or not.

She faced competition from two candidates, both in their 50s. It was her supporters who were ready first, already on their marks for the moment they have anticipated for weeks - a repeat of the last Congress.

The 70-year-old Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah won the hearts of delegates.

It was only when she heard the figures of the election results, that she smiled.
