Although Namibia has made great strides in the fight against HIV and AIDS, the epidemic continues to rob the country of much-needed human capital and compromise socio-economic progress.

This is President Hage Geingob's message, as Namibia joins the commemoration of World AIDS Day.

Dr Geingob is equally concerned about the stigmatization of those infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS, describing these as the biggest enemies.

He says discrimination compromises treatment and support services offered by the government.

The Head of State reaffirmed his commitment and support for those who have been infected by or affected by the virus, and he called for increased efforts to prevent further spread.

Dr Geingob further wants efforts aimed at preventing HIV to be strengthened to complement the government's ongoing roll-out of treatment and counseling services.
