Police in the Oshikoto Region are investigating the murder of a two-year-old toddler.

The incident took place on December 3 at about 20:45 in Ohainghete village, Nehale Lyampingana Constituency.

It is alleged that a seven-year-old boy was left alone in a house with a two-year-old girl, and the boy put sand in the girl's mouth and eyes and killed her instantly.

The boy then covered the corpse with a blanket and hid it in a hut.

He went on to inform some other children, who were at that time collecting firewood, of what had transpired.

The children, who were informed about the incident, went to the cuca shops and broke the bad news to the parents, who later called the police.

The deceased was identified as two-year-old Ndeshipanda Naameondeni.

The suspect, who is from a neighbor's house, is not yet arrested, but he will be taken first to a social worker for counseling.
