The Shack Dwellers Federation has begun construction of Phase Three of its housing project at Kongola in the Zambezi Region.

Residents have already received materials and begun construction of their houses.

While recognizing the project's progression, many brought attention to the fact that the area lacks water, another challenge is the transportation of materials, with everything brought in from Katima Mulilo and without proper storage space.

The first phase comprised 19 houses built and handed over to the owners, followed by Phase Two and 35 houses built and delivered. During the Third Phase, 35 houses are to be constructed.

The total number of houses to be built at Kongola, by the time the project concludes, is set at 202. Federation councillor, Bernett Busihu says challenges related to water have been pending for years. Regardless of the ongoing water issues, residents are happy and grateful to the Shack Dweller Federation.
