Police Spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi has confirmed that police are investigating a possible case of GBV after a video of a child who was allegedly beaten with a bottle and sustained cuts on her hand by her guardian surfaced on the net this morning.

In the video, the young girl narrates that her guardian, who was at a bar then, called her to go get her baby, but she did not hear the call. The guardian allegedly then went on to interrogate the child and beat her up. She says it's not the first time she's been physically abused.

The woman has been brought in for questioning after the mother of the child, who is a friend of the perpetrator, opened a GBV case against her at the Wanaheda police station.

Shikwambi urged members of the public who take videos to do so with caution so as not to subject minor children to victimization.
