The ||Kharas Regional Education Director Johannes ||Hoeseb says the region only has isolated cases of parents still seeking school placement for their children.

The Regional Education Director says three primary schools at Keetmanshoop, namely Mina Sachs Primary School, Kronlein Primary School, and Keetmanshoop Primary School, have reached their full intake capacity.

||Hoeseb is adamant that no learner in the region will remain unplaced and called on parents whose children remain unplaced to approach their nearest education circuit inspector office, to be directed to schools where there are still open spaces.

"We did not start with learner enrollment and admission only in 2023; last year we had the back-to-school campaign on the part of the ministry, which was done in all regions, and parents had already enrolled their children last year. The parents who are really queuing up now are, for example, parents who may have relocated from one locality to another and need to enroll their children at a different school, and then there are parents who did not apply for their children's school places on time."

||Hoeseb could not reveal the total number of learners who remain unplaced, saying those figures would only be available after the fifteenth school day, on the 1st of February.

"A parent who looks only for places in 2023 instead of applying in 2022 for the placement of their children should know that they have forfeited their right to choose a specific school for enrolling their children because we will place their children at the school that has a place, so we are well on course. The fifteenth school day is only on the 1st of February, so until such time, we cannot say whether we would not be able to admit learners or not, but at this point, we cannot say whether we would."
