The ||Kharas Education Forum has encouraged parents and the community to support learners to improve education outcomes.

The Forum's Chairperson Katrina Elizabeth |Goagoses made the call on the sidelines of the annual gathering of school principals in the ||Kharas Region at Karasburg.

|Goagoses says the forum's main focus is to step up parent involvement in schools and be part of the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning.

"Community must take ownership of the schools, and take up their responsibility to see that these kids are guided, not only by teachers because it is not the teachers' responsibility alone, and we must work together to help these in a direction to become somebody better than they were yesterday."

When asked what intervention strategies the forum would suggest in improving teaching and learning and school performance outcomes, |Goagoses had this to say.

"Churches must open up the premises for studies in the evening for learners, most of our learners come from poor backgrounds and they don't have places to study."

|Goagoses also commented on Grade 11 and 12 Level examinations results of last year.

|Goagoses, a retired teacher congratulated schools in ||Kharas, which achieved top positions in Grade 11 and 12 subjects on the national ranking list.
