Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has called on the Executive Directors and heads of government entities to be transparent and provide timely information to all bidders participating in tenders.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila made the call when she addressed the annual meeting of the EDs.

In her address, the Premier urged government agencies to implement the Procurement Amendment Framework aimed at supporting locally produced goods and the Code of Good Practice launched by the Finance Ministry.

She also urged the Executive Directors to ensure that complaints and wrongdoings about procurement are addressed promptly.

The Prime Minister further called on the EDs to implement maintenance plans for public infrastructure and to prioritize the implementation of programs necessary to support the country's economic growth.

"Therefore, as Executive Directors and Accounting Officers, you have a duty to acquaint yourself with the conditions of our people and propose and, once approved, implement policies that are aimed at bringing about the change we all want to see. Our country's fiscal and economic development has been severely impacted by external shocks. We must prioritize the implementation of programs that are required to support the growth of our economy and optimize livelihood by doing more with less."
