Technocrats Urged to Champion Rural Development

So much has been said about service delivery and development, and technocrats have much to do with it.

The Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. George Simataa, did not mince his words when he told the Executive Directors and Chief Regional Officers that they are much relied on for development in their areas, particularly remote areas.

It was a robust discussion, where the EDs and CROs took to the podium and presented not only what their offices are busy with but also suggested solutions for proper sanitation and access to potable water.

Top Government Officials Discuss Service Delivery

Executive Directors of offices, ministries, and agencies, as well as Chief Regional Officers, have convened at Swakopmund to discuss factors hampering service delivery.

Officially opening the two-day event, Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. George Simataa said the issue of lack of service delivery to citizens has become topical and needs to be addressed.

Dr. Simataa stressed that challenges such as poverty and unemployment should not have a place in the country if the group of administrators gathered at this first-ever event did the right thing.

Transparency called for Executive Directors and heads of government entities

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has called on the Executive Directors and heads of government entities to be transparent and provide timely information to all bidders participating in tenders.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila made the call when she addressed the annual meeting of the EDs.

In her address, the Premier urged government agencies to implement the Procurement Amendment Framework aimed at supporting locally produced goods and the Code of Good Practice launched by the Finance Ministry.
