The Governor of the Kavango East Region, Bonifatius Wakudumo, is of the view that infrastructure does not have an impact on teaching and learning, as those taught under temporary structures could produce great results.

Wakudumo said this when he visited the Rundu Project School.

The Rundu Project School was recently established due to a lack of classes to accommodate all the learners in the Rundu circuit.

There are about 600 grade eight, nine, and ten learners who could not be placed in various formal schools.

During his visit, Wakudumo encouraged the teachers to do their best in the classroom and not let the teaching environment discourage them.

"What happens in the classroom is between the teacher and the learner, and it can only be at the end of the year when we see if the teaching was effective or not," the governor said. "What I am saying is that whether in the tents or in the open area, if you are a qualified teacher, if you are a committed teacher, I still believe you can deliver nothing else, I repeat, you can still deliver."

Wakudumo says the money for the construction of the Rundu Project School was handed over to the region.

"I know the conditions are harsh that you are going through, but you should not be detracted by the conditions that you are going through. Have that courage, that commitment, and as a caring government, you will soon and very soon have permanent school structures to be built, so just take your studies seriously regardless of the environment."

The governor stated that the government is doing all it can to have the school constructed with no delay.

The construction is set to commence in March this year.
