Another by-election could be held in the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency after the Landless People's Movement (LPM) recalled its regional councilor, Gerrit Witbooi.

LPM's Operative Secretary Dawid Eigub informed ||Kharas Regional Council that it has released Witbooi from his position with immediate effect.

However, the letter did not state reasons that supported the party's withdrawal decision.

Recently, the party had suspended Witbooi from participating in the ||Kharas Regional Council activities for a period of three months.

The party's national spokesperson, Lifalaza Simataa, explained what prompted Witbooi's withdrawal as a regional councilor.

"Currently he was on suspension, and then he, what is the word I am looking for, created more grievances within the party. A good example would be that of a lack of, not a lack of, but a great misconduct and violence towards the party by burning the party flag and so forcing in Aroab. I think on Sunday, Sunday afternoon, there was a video, it went public, and also on videotape, and it was so forcing."

When asked for comment, Witbooi told nbc News that he was consulting with his lawyers.
