Learners, teachers, and parents came together at Tsumkwe Primary School to celebrate Namibia's 36th Independence Day.

Speaking at the event was the Head of Department at Tsumkwe Primary School, Caiphus Kahaka.

Former members of the South West African Territorial Force (SWATF) are demanding answers over funds they claim were set aside for their benefit. 

The group says despite evidence of millions being transferred and invested, no payments have been made to them.

Kavango East Governor Hamunyera Hambyuka stated that while independence has granted political freedom, the region continues to encounter various challenges. 

Hambyuka was delivering the keynote address for this year's independence celebrations at the Rundu Sports Stadium.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has called on Namibians to protect their independence.

Theofelus made the call during the Independence Day celebration at Mariental.

For some in neighbouring Botswana, March 21st might just be an ordinary day on the calendar. 

But for Botswana nationals of Namibian descent, it is time to remember Namibia's independence from the yoke of colonialism.
