Residents of Kuvukiland informal settlement in Tsumeb have raised concerns over open trenches dug a year ago during a water project that have become a safety hazard.
Residents say the open trenches have raised fears for children's safety, during the rainy season.
They also said the excavations have narrowed the streets, making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to move safely, while posing a risk of accidents.
Tsumeb Mayor Hofni Hamunyela blamed delays in payments to the contractor that affected progress on the project.
