Corruption, inequality, and growing social divisions took center stage as President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah delivered a firm and reflective midnight address, marking Namibia’s 36th Independence Day.

As Namibia prepares to mark 36 years of independence, celebrations are taking place across the country, including within correctional facilities.

At the Windhoek Correctional Facility, inmates and officials gathered for a pre-independence celebration centred on reflection, dignity, and nation-building.
