Namibian Police Chief Joseph Shikongo stuck to his word to bring about change on Friday afternoon when he announced transfers, appointments, and promotions among the top brass that will be effective from the 1st of September.

The Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, has called on members of the force to prepare themselves to maintain law and order during the upcoming November national elections . 

Over 200 women, young and old, gathered in Windhoek for the Namibia National Women Conference.

The conference, which is the first of its kind, was organised by the Namibia National Men Conference under the theme "It is well, my darling—we are all in this fight against violence".

Tukwatha Youth Organisation spearheaded a fun walk aimed at urging young Namibians to register to vote before the fast-approaching August 1 deadline.

With a substantial youth demographic, young people's participation in the upcoming elections is deemed crucial. 

Namibia and the United States of America have been urged to re-invest in ideas that elections are about choices for the electorate and not resort to violence and other distractions.

US Ambassador Randy Berry says this is extremely important as the two countries head to the polls to elect new leadership.
