NamPol commends government for addressing lack of manpower

NamPol Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has commended the government for addressing a lack of manpower in the police force.

He remarked this when he officially opened the police basic training course at the Ruben Danger Ashipala Police Training Centre in Ondangwa.

The police's basic training is being attended by 841 cadet constables. Of these, 572 are male and 279 are female.

They were recruited from all 14 of the country's regions.

Fuel smuggling at Oshikango border under control

The smuggling of fuel at the Oshikango border is under control, at least for now, since the launch of the operation dubbed "Stop illegal smuggling and other contrabands."

The initiative is a joint operation between Namibia and Angola that was launched at the common border and is spearheaded by NamPol Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo.

The operation, launched at the regional level, will be intensified from both sides with the aim of preventing cross-border crimes, which have been on the increase.
