UNFP reaffirms commitment to fight GBV

The United Nations Population Fund Representative says gender-based violence continues to disproportionately affect the lives of women and girls.

Erika Goldson was speaking at the inception of the Gender Equality/Combating Gender Based Violence 2024–2027 project in Windhoek, where she advocated for a collective commitment from stakeholders and communities to eradicating GBV.

According to Goldson, statistics are alarming, as nearly one in three Namibian women have experienced physical violence, while approximately one in four have endured sexual violence.

A learner sustained head injury during a fight at Westside High School

A fight broke out at Westside High School between a group of grade 8 and 9 male learners earlier today at Swakopmund.

It is alleged that the cause of the fight came about when one of the older learners was threatened by a new earner that only started at the school yesterday. 

The new learner was attacked with belt
 buckles causing a massive open wound on the head. 
He was urgently rushed to the hospital by the police.
