ILO high-level mission, UN delegation  engage Presidency on solutions to job creation

The Presidency says various policies are being implemented in line with the Harambee Prosperity Plan to address poverty and unemployment, particularly among the youth.

International Labour Organisation's high-Level mission and the United Nations delegation engaged the Presidency and discussed solutions including job creation, just transition and social protection.

International Labour Organisation chooses Namibia to be a pathfinder country

Namibia could become a country to discover or show others a path.

This was was said by the delegation of the International Labour Organisation and the United Nations after concluding a week-long mission in the country.

The eight-member delegation held discussions with the President's office, Prime Minister, Government Ministers, Banks and development partners.

Namibia was chosen by the ILO to receive the first high-scoping Level Mission for a possible Pathfinder country,  an initiative of the UN's Global Accelerator initiative. 

Quality education cited as one of the issues hampering progress in Namibia - ILO

Some trade unions in Namibia mention quality education, outdated statistics and a lack of social protection as some of the issues hampering progress, in terms of jobs and social protection in Namibia. 

This comes after a high-level mission from the International Labour Organisation, (ILO) met with various trade unions in Windhoek. 

The mission came to assess Namibia's readiness and capacity to participate in the UN's Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection.
