Miss Namibia pageant organisers ready for pageant

Organisers of the coveted Miss Namibia pageant say it is all systems go in Swakopmund this weekend.

The main pageant will be preceded by Miss Teen Namibia on Friday, followed by the big occasion on Saturday.

Organising Committee Member Beaulah Boois-Beukes says the stage is set for the contestants to showcase their talent.

The annual glam and glitz events bring together Namibians from all walks of life as well as giving a platform to local designers to showcase their creations.

Debmarine donates endoscopy equipment

Debmarine Namibia has donated state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment valued at N$1.2 million to the Swakopmund District Hospital.

Endoscopy is a thin tube with a small camera inside that is used to look inside a person's body.

After receiving the equipment, the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, says the donation will strengthen the provision of surgical care and provide reliable, timely diagnosis and intervention.

Debmarine commits to women empowerment

Debmarine Namibia has committed to the upliftment and empowerment of women.

This is one of the reasons why the company availed N$2.5 million to Miss Namibia.

Debmarine Namibia made this reassurance during its meeting with Miss Namibia's finalists and the nbc's Director General Stanley Similo at its premises.

The visit was aimed at educating the contestants on Debmarine's operations, including training on general safety, psychological wellbeing, and its contribution to the development of the country.

Namibians should have local ownership of investment in mining and petroleum sectors- Alweendo

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Tom Alweendo, says there is a need to create an environment where Namibians can have local ownership of investment in the mining and petroleum sectors.

Alweendo was speaking at the Debmarine Stakeholder Breakfast Meeting in Windhoek today.

He explained that in order for Namibians to benefit economically from these sectors, it is necessary to first determine where the resources are located (exploration).
