SA's Oceana Group apologises to suspended Erongo Marine Enterprises's MD

A South African company, Oceana Group, has apologised over claims that the suspended Managing Director of its Namibian subsidiary, Erongo Marine Enterprises, had resigned. 

In a statement, the company said Dr. Martha Uumati's employment was terminated by mutual agreement.

The suspended MD's contract came to an end on Monday.

Erongo Marine Enterprises, which is owned by Oceana Group, was pursuing disciplinary action against Dr. Uumati.

She was dismissed for gross subordination and improper behaviour as a leader of the enterprise.

NAMAF concerned over medical aid funds spending more on claims

The Namibian Association of Medical Aid Funds has expressed concern over medical aid funds spending more money on claims in comparison to the contributions collected over the last six months.

Its Chief Executive Officer says this is despite the argument that the value of the assets that the medical aid funds hold in reserve was about N$1.7 billion by September 30, 2022, which is adequate to withstand any adverse claims experienced that may result from increased liabilities.

Government refutes claim that green hydrogen project is shrouded in secrecy

The Minister in the Office of the Presidency, Christine ||Hoebes has refuted allegations that the government's green hydrogen project is shrouded in secrecy.

||Hoebes says the allegations come despite extensive consultation between the head of state and the Green Hydrogen Council.

The minister argues that allegations of secrecy surrounding the country's green hydrogen ambitions are unfounded and lack substantial evidence. 

Zambezi residents cautioned against staging house breakings to claim insurance

The Police in the Zambezi Region has cautioned residents against staging house breakings to claim insurance.

The NamPol Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Zambezi Region, Inspector Kisco Sitali said house breakings top the list of offenses.

Of the 29 cases reported since the 19th of March, 13 cases are house breakings.

Inspector Sitali said many a time complainants end up being the suspects.
