WVTC trainees graduate

420 trainees graduated at the Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WVTC) in Windhoek today (Friday).

Of the graduates, 36% are female and 64% are male.

The Deputy Executive Director in the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, Raimo Naanda, appreciated the positive increase in the number of females taking up technical and vocational education and training courses.

The graduates were urged to work towards becoming self-employed, as this will reduce youth unemployment in the country.

The main objective of the Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WVTC) is to produce a crop of young artisans properly skilled for the market.

This was said by the manager of WVTC during a meeting with the nbc Newsroom team, which has been holding a series of meetings with institutions of higher learning and research institutions.

The nbc is conducting the meetings to broaden its base of resource persons and experts in various fields and enrich its programmes with expert knowledge.

NIPAM says it is imperative to consider vocational training

The Acting Executive Director of the Namibian Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM), Sankwasa Mubita, says it is imperative to consider vocational training as it contributes to the growth of the country.

Mubita said this at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between NIPAM and the Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WVTC).

The three-year-long MoU will help promote and develop areas of mutual interest in fields related to, but not limited to, capacity-building research and marketing.
