Livestock auction pens at Eiseb 10 valued at N$1.1 million Growth Point

The Meat Corporation of Namibia (MeatCo) has spent N$1.1 million on setting up livestock auction pens at Eiseb 10 Growth Point in the Otjombinde Constituency of the Omaheke Region.

Usually, farmers would make use of the Gobabis auction pens, which are 350 kilometres away.

Speaking at the official handover of the auction pens at Eiseb 10, MeatCo Board Member Usiel Kandjii emphasised that the corporation has the mandate to develop basic marketing infrastructure within communal areas to allow producers to become part of the value chain.

Parents refuse to have learners from Otjivero Combined School return

Some parents of children attending school at Otjivero Combined School in the Omaheke Region have refused to send the pupils back, citing outstanding matters.

Concerned parents handed over a petition to the ministry in recent months demanding the removal of the school's principal following allegations of misuse of school funds.

The Education Inspector, Elliakim Kavari, explained that the demands made by parents were forwarded to the head office for their attention.

Achievement of Exercise Hanganee II satisfactory

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, is satisfied with the achievement of Exercise Hanganee 2 in fostering interactions and cultural practises among Namibian and Botswana defence forces.

The forces rendered humanitarian assistance in various parts of the Omaheke Region.

Kapofi made the remark at the closing ceremony of Operation Hanganee 2 at Tsjaka settlement in the Kalahari Constituency, which started from the 15th to the 30th of June.

Namibian Army vows continued support to international peace and security efforts

The Namibian Army will continue to enhance its efforts to contribute to international peace, security, and stability.

The Chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), Air Marshall Martin Pinehas, made this remark at the official opening of Hanganee II at Tsjaka in the Omaheke Region.

The NDF and the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) are participating in the joint peace support operation training exercise.

Air Marshall Pinehas said this cooperation has strengthened bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Tsjaka residents demand removal of Mphe Thuto Primary School principal

Residents of Tsjaka in the Omaheke Region, along with farmers in the Kalahari Constituency, are demanding the removal or transfer of the principal at Mphe Thuto Primary School.

The community accuses the school principal of not prioritising the education sector and of failing to address the shortage of teachers at the school.

Two subjects have been without teachers since the beginning of the year.

Namibian Defence Force prepared for upcoming Joint Peace Support Operation exercise

The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is happy with the preparedness of the contingent for the upcoming Joint Peace Support Operation exercise, code-named Hanganee II, with their Botswana counterpart in the Omaheke Region.

This was said by the NDF chief, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas.

Air Marshal Pinehas conducted an inspection to assess the readiness of the participating troops and the necessary equipment for the exercise, which is scheduled to take place from the 15th to the 30th of June in the Omaheke Region.

Ovambenderu Traditional Authority unhappy with delay of envisaged traditional office

The Ovambenderu Traditional Authority at Omauezonjanda in the Omaheke Region has complained about the delay of the envisaged traditional office that was planned to be built at their headquarters.

The leaders shared this during the visit by Vice President Nangolo Mbumba to Epukiro.

Speaking at Omauezonjanda, Senior Traditional Councillor Gerson Katjirua said the community is still waiting for the completion of the traditional office as promised by the government.

Katjirua added that the area was fenced off in 2021 in preparation for the construction of the office.
