Swapo commemorates 64 years

The Swapo Party on Friday marked 64 years of existence since its foundation on April 19, 1960, with its eyes trained on the upcoming national elections.

In a message to party members, Swapo Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called for unity as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.

Ida Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros remembered

Mourners gathered at Farm Snip River in the ||Kharas Region to pay tribute to late Swapo Party liberation struggle stalwart Ida Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros during the official memorial service. 

Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros died on April 3 at the age of 79.

Dr. Geingob dedicated himself to Namibia- MPLA

Angola's ruling party and a sister liberation movement, the MPLA, has added their voice of sympathy to its Namibian counterpart, the Swapo Party, following the untimely death of Namibian Leader Dr. Hage Geingob.

The MPLA, in a statement, says it is saddened by the death of Geingob.

CoW postpones election of additional management committee members

The City of Windhoek has again postponed a meeting to elect two additional management committee members.

The meeting, scheduled for earlier Thursday afternoon, was postponed because there were no nominations for the two management committee members.

The meeting will now happen on February 8.

Violent confrontation over secessionism averted

A series of anti-secession demonstrations, held under the Swapo Party, that have been taking place in the Zambezi Region nearly resulted in a violent confrontation this weekend at Linyanti Village.
