Gosbert Sikerete Mandema, the former mayor of Rundu, was buried in Rundu today.

A veteran of the Liberation Struggle, Mandema passed away in Windhoek last month at the age of 77, receiving the honor of a state funeral bestowed by President Hage Geingob.

Mourners described the late Gosbert Sikerete Mandema as a gallant and tenacious son of the soil who was willing to do anything for his country.

The former mayor of Rundu was remembered at a state memorial service in Rundu today.

Operation Basadi launched

Kavango West Region records most road fatalities

The Kavango West Region has recorded 10 road fatalities this year, while 13 people died last year.

Kavango West Regional Commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, says all fatalities were a result of pedestrians being bumped on the road.

ECN mock registration without glitches

Namibia's first Seed bank opens its doors

Namibia's first community seed bank opened its doors at Sharukwe village in Kavango West. 

The project, which cost more than N$500,000 to set up, was funded by GIZ, MTC, and the Environmental Investment Fund.

Community Seed Banks are used to collect, store, and protect local seeds. 

Rundu experiences rise in crime

Rundu has seen an increase in certain crimes in 2023 compared to 2022, according to statistics provided by the Kavango East Regional Police.

The statistics compare various crimes between January and December 2022 and January and September 2023.
