President Mbumba announces new Ministerial appointments

President Nangolo Mbumba made new ministerial and deputy ministerial appointments on Friday afternoon.

Chief Justice Peter Shivute presided over the swearing-in of the officials into their new positions.

With the appointment of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the new Vice President, the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation had become vacant.

John Mutorwa was appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister and will still remain the Minister of Works and Transport.

MICT to develop National Digital Strategy

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) is developing a National Digital Strategy to unlock various opportunities and fast-track Namibia's digital transformation.

The strategy will guide the nation in leveraging digital technologies for sustainable development, economic growth, and social progress.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus says the ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to drive Namibia's digitalization agenda in alignment with the strategic plan.

Youth urged to explore untapped opportunities

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology says Namibian youth need to explore opportunities that are not mainstreamed.

Emma Theofelus was speaking at NANSO's youth engagement on international opportunities held in Windhoek.

The country, Theofelus says, is faced with an oversupply of particular professions, which in some instances has led to a high number of unemployed graduates.

Theofelus further says that scholarships in the green hydrogen project are some of the opportunities to pursue.

MICT concludes engagements on Data Protection Bill

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) concluded its consultative engagements on the Data Protection Bill in all fourteen regions.

The bill, whose consultations ended at Gobabis, aims to protect the right to privacy with respect to the processing of personal data and govern the processing of personal information by private and public bodies.
