Family members, friends, neighbours, and government officials flocked to the homestead of the late former Namibian Ambassador to Botswana, Hadino Hishongwa, who died on Friday morning.

The founding member of Swapo and former Namibian politician was born at Odibo Village in the Ohangwena Region, but settled in Onekwaya-West in the same region.

Josua Ndemuweda described his uncle as a unifier, peacemaker, and family organiser who loved to bring family members together.

Brutal abuse of minor condemned

The Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare Ministry has condemned the brutal abuse of a 5-year-old girl by her family members in the Omaheke Region.

The incident, which happened towards the end of July, came to light in a video circulated on social media.

The Chief Public Relations Officer in the ministry, Lucas Haufiku, strongly condemned the act against the 5-year-old, who was allegedly assaulted by her three cousins, aged 6, 8, and 12, together with her aunt, at her uncle's home.
