Hundreds of learners without school placement

The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is facing an uphill battle for the placement of Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners.

The nbc News sat down with the Executive Director in the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, for an update on the 2024 placements for Grades 1 and 8.

Otjozondjupa, |Khomas and Erongo regions are at the top of the list, grappling with placement challenges.

In the |Khomas Region, 389 Grade 1 learners and 600 Grade 8 learners are still waiting for placement.

B2Gold Namibia hands over classrooms at Ombili Primary School

Learners of Ombili Primary School at Otjiwarongo are no longer being taught in tents, thanks to B2Gold Namibia, which has built them into a fully-fledged school.

Every year, the education sector faces numerous challenges, especially related to the placement of learners in the primary grades and a lack of proper structure.

At Ombili, where the project school started in 2019, 138 learners who could not find placement were taught in tents.

CENORED to embark on TID rollover project

The Central Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (CENORED) is set to embark on a token identifier (TID) rollover project to prevent people from tempering with electricity meters.

CENORED is putting all systems in place to get the process started and ensure that the rollover to the new software is done smoothly.

The old software within this prepaid meter has a base date of January 1, 1993, and will now roll over to the new best base, which is January 1, 2014.
