The Komas region's Katutura Central Constituency in Windhoek will soon have its office.

This follows the groundbreaking ceremony held ahead of its construction.

For over a decade, the Katutura Central Constituency has been without an office where residents can inquire and raise issues that affect them.

Following a tender process, the work, valued at 12 million dollars, was awarded to Betonsteen Construction.

The completed building will comprise a boundary wall, guardhouse, office space, boardroom, storage facilities, and a community hall with kitchen facilities.

"Today we look forward with optimism and enthusiasm, knowing that the massive step we are taking today will bring us much closer to the dream, which is to provide a venue where the community of the Katutura constituency can access government services with dignity."

Moonde urged the contractor to ensure that locals get preference in terms of both skilled and unskilled labor.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to prescribed standards and specifications in the procurement of materials and equipment required for the project.

"As regional government, the Khomas Regional Council has enlisted the services of a capable local multi-disciplinary team of experts comprising engineers, architects, and quantity surveyors to develop the design of the state-of-the-art building for which we are conducting a groundbreaking today. I must applaud this team of Namibians who have proven that we have the talent in our region."

He commended the council, management, and staff for their hard work in ensuring that the site is secured ahead of the project's commencement.

The office complex is set to be completed by May 2026.
