The ||Kharas Region Police have managed to successfully evacuate ninety-six hikers from the Fish River Canyon.

The hikers, most of them South African citizens, were trapped by rising water levels in the canyon due to heavy downpours in the area.

A major rescue mission is being mounted in the Fish River Canyon to rescue close to a hundred hikers trapped in the canyon by rising waters.

The Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) management is calling on Namibians from all walks of life to sign up for what it terms the biggest cleaning-up campaign of the Fish River Canyon during the month of September.
