The 16-year-old Cornelius Shimwaafeni from Omutundungu Village in Oshana, who saved nine-month-old twins from drowning, will also be conferred a national hero status by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah tomorrow at the commemoration of Heroes Day. 

From the battlefront to the honours list. 

Namibians who took part in the fight for freedom have now received the country's salute ahead of the Heroes Day commemoration on Wednesday. 

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has bestowed honours as officers of the Order of the Eagle of Zambia on WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus and Africa's CDC Head Jean Kaseya.

The President of Zambia has recognised their dedication to diligently reforming the health sector.

The government has announced a moratorium on official funerals.

This decision was made during the 11th cabinet meeting, held on Tuesday and chaired by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. 

Notable Namibians, including the Deputy Prime Minister, John Mutorwa, were conferred national honours, during the investiture ceremony at State House.

President Nangolo Mbumba conferred the awards on the honorees.
