Freelance sign language interpreter at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, Peter Mbwale, was buried on Saturday at Omindaba village in Omusati's Ruacana Constituency.

A group of the |Hai-|Khaua clan members expressed discontent over the appointment and installation of the clan's deputy Gaob, citing a lack of consultation with the wider community.

The |Hai-|Khaua clan, a sub-tribe of the Nama people, has appointed a new deputy Gaob. 

Senior traditional councillor of the |Hai-|Khaua Traditional Authority, Michael Haman, was installed into the position during a ceremony held at Berseba on Saturday.

Vessels caught fishing illegally in Namibian waters could soon face fines of up to N$10 million.

That's according to Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi, who said Cabinet has approved changes to strengthen the country's outdated fishing laws.

One of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's long-serving cameramen, Eddy Eneas, was buried at Grootfontein on Saturday.

Eneas died on the 24th of October at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital after a short illness.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has responded to the incident that took place at Ndama Clinic in Rundu, where a grade one learner was refused treatment because the child did not come with a piece of paper that would temporarily serve as a health passport.
