Katima Mulilo Town Council has resolved to rename three streets after renowned public figures who hail from the Zambezi region.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency Namibia (ADRA) has donated food parcels worth nearly N$300,000 to flood victims who were displaced in Nfooma in the Kabbe North Constituency of the Zambezi Region.

The humanitarian act will cater to 228 households, with each household receiving a food kit.

Despite being banned, the United Democratic Party (UDP) has repeated a call for the Zambezi Region to secede from Namibia. 

UDP members marched to the Zambezi governor's office on Wednesday to submit a petition, stating the demand for secession. 

Residents of the Zambezi region are calling on the government to take action against the United Democratic Party (UDP), a party that was banned in 2007 for its secessionist stance. 

The residents alongside the 4 traditional authorities in the region took to the streets of Katima Mulilo today.

The government has emphasised that it recognises the importance of engaging the legislature in the implementation of national development plans and programmes.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed this during a consultative meeting with the leadership of the All People's Party, APP, at State House.
