President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has lauded late police officer Chief Inspector Riche Karel ||Naobeb for an exemplary career.

The police have recorded six murders and culpable homicide cases, two attempted murder cases, and one assault case over the weekend.

Simasiku Matongo, the slain police officer from Walvis Bay, continued the legacy of liberation struggle hero Greenwell Matongo.

His family members said his tragic death left a big gap in the family.

Colleagues, family and community members are still reeling in shock from the murder of Matongo.

The Namibian Police have recorded 3,203 cases involving firearms between 2021 and 2024.

This was revealed at the launch of the Amnesty on Arms, Ammunition and Armament campaign in Windhoek on Friday.

The Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Joseph Shikongo, has confirmed the arrest of Agriculture Minister Mac Hengari and another individual.

Shikongo told NBC News that they apprehended Hengari on Saturday afternoon.

Two men, Andreas Akwaake (53) and Immanuel Iipinge (39), were arrested in Noordoewer on March 28 for being in possession of N$725,000 in cash.

The suspects appeared before the Karasburg Magistrate's Court last week and were subsequently denied bail.
