The European Union (EU) in Namibia has injected more than N$300 million into early childhood development (ECD) centres around the country. 

EU Ambassador to Namibia Ana Beatriz Martins made the announcement during the launch of the programme at Mix Settlement, on the outskirts of Windhoek. 

N$262 million will go to the Treasury, and N$60 million will go towards technical assistance, including support actions implemented by Unicef and the World Food Programme. 

An after-school wrestling program in Namibia is making waves in the sporting world. The After School Centre Wrestling Club, located in Katutura and overseen by the Ministry of Gender Equality, has witnessed its young wrestlers secure a total of 16 medals at international competitions over the past two years.

A drug and alcohol awareness campaign was held at J.A. Nel Secondary School at Keetmanshoop in efforts to tackle the scourge of drug abuse, especially among young people.

A stateless mother of 10 at Rundu is finding the going tough as she waits on the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare to approve the children's social grants.

Katarina Matjayi, who resides in the Ndama Informal Settlement, narrated her struggles to nbc News.

Matjayi's struggles started after she gave birth at the age of 16.

By the age of 37, Matjayi had seven children already.

Judge Shafimana Ueitele has ordered the Namibian Government to release four Angolan children who have been in state custody for more than four years.

In 2018, the state opened a case against businessman Simon Andjamba on charges of human trafficking.

It was alleged that the businessman trafficked the four children from Angola.

The four children have since been kept in the custody of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare at an undisclosed location.

The Oshana Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Naftal Sackaria has lauded the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare for hosting the National Men's conference at Ongwediva. 

Sackaria says the conference has shed light on the importance of men speaking out and seeking emotional support when they are faced with problems.

He made a presentation on gender-based violence cases, and motivated men to speak out and seek police assistance when the need arises.

He discouraged them from taking the law into their own hands.
