Kavango East Governor Hamunyera Hambyuka stated that while independence has granted political freedom, the region continues to encounter various challenges. 

Hambyuka was delivering the keynote address for this year's independence celebrations at the Rundu Sports Stadium.

The Kavango East Governor's office has donated a decent shelter to a destitute family in Fumbe Village in the Mashare Constituency. 

The governor's office deemed it necessary to provide the family with shelter from the harsh weather conditions.

The Acting Education Director for Kavango East says the region is fully prepared for the opening of schools next week.

Lukas Makayi said the region has procured stationery and furniture worth about N$4,5 million  for the 2026 academic year.
