Venaani urges GRN to address the struggle kids plight

PDM leader McHenry Venaani says the recent actions by the children of the liberation struggle have the potential to pose a security threat, urging the government to urgently address their plight.

The call comes after a group of Struggle Kids recently blocked entry to the Ministry of Defense and locked offices with chains.

Many of the Struggle Kids are now grown up, but as orphans, their parents died as a consequence of the pre-independence fights.

Over the years, they have staged many protests, calling on the government to give them jobs.

Venaani Briefs the media on the UK meeting

McHenry Venaani also briefed the media on the imminent deportation of Namibian asylum seekers in the United Kingdom after he met the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Venaani says the meeting with Nandi-Ndaitwa was fruitful, saying it would be a lengthy process to deport those Namibians back home.

He reminded the governments of both countries to follow international laws that deal with issues surrounding migration and asylum seekers.

PDM President proposes a special fund to assist flood victims

The president of the Popular Democratic Movement, McHenry Venaani, has called for the establishment of a special fund to assist flood victims in the northern parts of the country.

Venaani tabled and motivated a motion in the National Assembly appealing for help for the population affected by the floods.

While appreciating the N$72 million set aside to assist the affected residents, Venaani says there must be a special fund tailor-made for such eventualities.

Senate delegates of OTA meeting in Otjimbingwe to elect new Ombara Otjitambi of OvaHerero people

Senate delegates of the OvaHerero Traditional Authority have descended on Otjimbingwe to elect the new Ombara Otjitambi of the OvaHerero people.

The OvaHerero community gathered at the historical village of Otjimbingwe to appoint a leader.

McHenry Venaani, Mike Kavekotora and academic Hoze Riruako are the three men nominated to take over as Ombara Otjitambi.

These elections come after another faction nominated and installed Professor Mutjinde Katjiua at a colorful coronation ceremony as Ombara Otjitambi.

PDM donates mattresses and tents to flood victims at Oshikango

The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) President McHenry Venaani has expressed his disappointment in the government saying that it is failing to find a permanent solution to mitigate the effects of reoccurring floods in the country.

He says over the past 30 years government could have built water catchment dams to harvest flood water and to address the effects of floods.

He made these remarks when he donated mattresses and tents to the value of N$30 000 to flood victims at Oshikango in the Ohangwena Region.

The official opposition, PDM has called for the immediate cancellation of the N$650 million tender awarded to a certain company for the procurement of condoms and other clinical supplies.

Addressing the media, the party's leader McHenry Venaani also urged the government to relook at the country's health and education systems.
The recent decision by the Central Procurement Board of Namibia to award a tender worth N$650 million for the acquisition of clinical supplies came under heavy public criticism.

Kapuuo faction nominates three candidates for Ovaherero Paramount Chief position

A dispute over the leadership of the Ovaherero people is far from over.

A faction under Senior Councillor Vipuira Kapuuo convened a Chiefs Council meeting at Ozombuzovindimba and nominated three candidates for the position of Paramount Chief of the Ovaherero.

The three candidates include PDM leader McHenry Venaani, Mike Kamboto Rațoveni Kavekotora who is the leader of RDP, and academic Dr Hoze Riruako.
