The killing of an Otjinene resident has reignited long-forgotten tribal tensions in the community.

Farmers in Otjinene have received a much-needed boost to support their livestock and livelihoods after the Otjinene Constituency Office, through the Farmers Support Programme, donated 150 goats to local farmers.

The Otjinene Constituency has acquired a vaccine worth more than N$500,000, with assistance from the Omaheke Regional Council, to fight the outbreak of lumpy skin disease that has invaded the constituency.

The public continues to pay their respect and sign the book of condolence at the Nujoma residence.

People who travelled from other towns are among those paying their respects.

The family of the former First Lady, Kovambo Nujoma, travelled from as far as Epukiro and Otjinene to pay their respects.

The Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele, says notable development has taken place at Otjinene since it was declared a village council ten years ago.

The increasing number of learners at the Usiel Ndjavera Primary School in the Otjinene constituency is putting pressure on service delivery, with over 1,000 learners enrolled this academic year.

Omburo Fishing Enterprises has reached out to small and medium enterprises at Otjinene with equipment that will assist them in their production.

The donated items include sewing machines, bending machines, building materials, and laptops.

Learners of Kalenga Primary School in Grootfontein can now cross the roads with guidance following the launch of patrols courtesy of Trigon Mine. 

The 14-1 road linking Grootfontein, Otjinene, and the Omaheke Region is one of the busiest roads in Grootfontein.

The leaders and residents of the Otjinene constituency joined the rest of the country in remembrance of the late President Hage Geingob, whom they describe as a leader of note, a people's president, and someone who always stood by his word.

Much has been said about the Namibian government's social grants not being sufficient to cater for the needs of the beneficiaries.
