Grootfontein Municipality donates plumbing, electrical equipment to state hospital

The Grootfontein Municipality has donated plumbing and electrical equipment to the town's state hospital.

The donation by Mayor Talitha Garises follows complaints by medical staff who were serving patients in dark rooms and having broken ablution in many ward rooms.

The donation of 225 bulbs will be installed in the children's ward, treatment rooms, bathrooms, and hospital corridors that have been in the dark for several months.

UNFPA donates sanitary kits to Odeitotela Combined School learners

With the dignity of schoolgirls considered a key factor in school drop-outs, the United Nations Population Fund has donated sanitary kits to learners at Odeitotela Combined School in the Omusati Region.

The kits are part of a N$7.4 million grant by the Japanese government and are meant for eight regions.

The UNFPA officer in charge, Loide Amkongo, said the project "Leave No One Behind" targets the most vulnerable girls.

Eternal Life Worship City donates food, clothing and sanitary pads to Babylon residents

The Eternal Life Worship City donated food, clothing items, and sanitary pads to the residents of Babylon in Windhoek.

The items, worth N$11,000, will be distributed to vulnerable communities under the project of the church in the community.

The donation will benefit more than eighty people, and the organisation plans to hand over similar donations at Rehoboth and Okahandja next week.

The Church has been assisting vulnerable communities for the past six years now.

 

Flush company donates eco-toilets to Siguruguru Senior Primary in Kavango East

A local company, Flush, has come to the rescue of teachers and learners at the Siguruguru Senior Primary School by donating six eco-toilets to the educational institution. 

More than 700 learners and 15 teachers were forced to share four toilets, which meant they had to make do with the bush when nature called.

Flush's Chief Executive Officer, Kaveto Tjatjara, handed over the eco-toilets worth N$150 thousand, noting that his company is committed to reducing open defection in underprivileged communities.

Law students donate sanitary products to female inmates

A group of final-year law students donated sanitary products to female inmates at the Windhoek Correctional Facility. The donation was facilitated through the LLB Aid Handover Programme. 

The donation was comprised of bathing soaps, sanitary pads, nappies, lotion, toothpaste, and other personal items. 

The LLB Aid Handover programme aims to be of service to and uplift communities. 

Speaking for the group, Doreen Lyomba says their gesture is meant to remind inmates that society still cares.
