Linyanti Conservancy receives transformers

The Zambezi Regional Council has handed over three transformers, valued at N$238,000, to three villages in the Linyanti Constituency.

The transformers, funded through the constituency's community development fund with the regional council, will benefit villages such as Malihela, Makanga, and Sibbinda West.

Speaking at the handover on Thursday, the chief regional officer for Zambezi regional council, Regina Ndopu-Lubinda, congratulated the constituency councillor and residents.

Onyeka Yepumba Farmers Association receives N$3 million

The Onyeka Yepumba Farmers Association in the Omusati Region recently inaugurated its new office at Etunda in Ruacana Constituency after receiving N$3 million from the Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) as a booster to cater for farming equipment.

Onyeka Yempumba Farmers Association caters for farmers within the Onesi and Ruacana districts in the Omusati.

The association caters to individuals who are passionate about farming a variety of crops and vegetables and have a reliable water source, such as a borehole.

"Let's Do It Namibia" donates citrus fruit trees to three different schools

Martti Ahtisaari Primary School is among those that received trees.

The Sustainable Environmental Education Programme is a pillar of "Let's Do It Namibia," which strives to make a change in the lives of Namibians through education and mentoring.

NWR donates essential items to boarding schools across Namibia

Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has donated essential items worth N$700,000 to boarding schools across the country.

According to Nelson Ashipala, Corporate Communications Manager at NWR, the schools to benefit are yet to be identified.

In addition to the donations, NWR is investing N$500,000 in school gardens.

By creating these gardens, NWR hopes to foster sustainable agricultural practises and encourage hands-on learning experiences for students.

Ohorongo Cement donates various hospital equipment to MoHSS

The Minister of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, says about 2.1 million people in the country depend on public health care services.

Dr. Shangula disclosed this during the donation of various hospital equipment valued at N$1.5 million by Ohorongo Cement and its partners.

Dr. Shangula received the donation consisting of 45 hospital beds, 45 matrasses, 45 bedside tables, 5 treatment tables, 4 infusion stands, 3 bath lifts, and 2 wheelchairs, amongst others.

UNFPA and Omaheke leadership hand over food parcels to marginalized communities in Gobabis

UNFPA, the Office of the Governor and the Omaheke Regional Council handed over food parcels to marginalized communities in Gobabis.

This is part of the initiative by Governor Pijoo Nganate to curb malnutrition in the region.

Child malnutrition is linked to poverty, low levels of education and poor access to health services and a recent report by the World Bank estimates that 1,6 million Namibians live in poverty.

Two children died because of malnutrition in Gobabis recently.

Omangete and Otjimuhaka Primary schools receives mattresses and school bags

The Omangete and Otjimuhaka Primary schools in Kunene are the latest to receive mattresses and school bags under the Adopt-A-school initiative under the auspices of the Seawork Fish Proccesors company at Walvis Bay.
 
The Namibia Multi-dimensional Poverty Index shows that 30 percent of children in the Kunene region are not attending primary school, as parents are unable to afford school fees and stationery.

40 less privileged children at Rundu receive school uniforms and stationaries

Fifty-four underprivileged children at Rundu received shoes, school bags and stationary donated by Zealous Tutorial Institution.

The Institution's principal says it's part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to plough back into the community in which they operate.

He said knowing how it feels to have nothing and walking barefoot to school was one of the major reasons why the institution embarked on this initiative which is aimed at boosting the morale of learners.

Vertice MedTech Namibia donates medical equipment to MoHSS

Vertice MedTech Namibia has donated medical equipment to the value of N$135 000 to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The donation is meant to help the Health Ministry improve the quality of its cardiovascular care offered, in accordance with the World Health Organization for Prevention of Cardiovascular disease.

The donation comprises five Zephyr single-chamber Abbott Pacemaker kits with pacemakers among others.

A pacemaker is a small, battery-operated device that senses when the heart is beating irregularly or too slowly.
