The Inspector General of the Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, says drug abuse in Namibia is a growing concern and is responsible for increased criminal activities happening in many communities.

Oshikoto police detains over 30 Angolan nationals

Police in the Oshikoto Region have detained over 30 Angolan nationals and issued several traffic fines since the launch of Operation Genesis.

The operation aims to clamp down on crime and road accidents in the region and has intensified the maintenance of law and order both in urban and rural areas.

Police confers 51 officers from all 14 regions with new ranks

The Namibian Police have conferred 51 officers, 30 men, and 21 women, from all 14 regions with new ranks.

However, due to distance only 23 could attend the official event in Windhoek, with the rest being conferred by their respective regional commanders.

Police arrests taxi driver for rape

A 35-year-old taxi driver has been arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old learner whom he was contracted to transport to and from school.

It is alleged that the suspect raped the young learner twice this week, on Monday and Tuesday, after picking her up from Klein Kuppe Private School in Ongwediva.
