Erongo Police adopt zero tolerance for crime

Erongo Governor Neville Andre joined the police and the neighbourhoodwatch during the ongoing "Festive Season Operation" at the two coastal towns.

Helicopter crash victims identified

The Erongo Police have released the names of the two people who died in a helicopter accident near the Swakopmund airport.

One of the deceased was 54-year-old Jacques Jacobs, a Chief Pilot and Pilot Instructor at the Flying School Company.

29-year-old Dirk Von Weidts, an aviation engineer, also perished in the accident.

He was from the Namibian Base Aviation Company Maintenance Flight and Helicopter at Swakopmund.

According to the preliminary incident report, the duo was fixing the helicopter's rotary blades and later took it for a test flight.

Erongo Police confiscates drugs worth N$1,2 million

The Erongo Police have confiscated drugs worth N$1.2 million from young people since the beginning of the year. 

Substance abuse is said to be an enormous social problem in the Erongo Region, with Swakopmund's Mondesa being the hotspot.

Since January, about 217 people were arrested of whom 98 are young people between the ages of 18 and 25.

The Erongo Regional Police Commander Nikolaus Kupembona in an interview with nbc News said young people's lives are at risk and has called on the church, schools, parents, and community to help fight the use of drugs.

The Erongo Police are investigating a case in which body parts were discovered floating in a plastic bag in a sewage dam at Karibib.

Regional Commander Nikolaus Kupembona confirmed the gruesome discovery to nbc News.

The Commissioner says two legs, arms and feet were found in the plastic bag but the rest of the body parts were not there.

According to him, the police are suspecting that the body parts belong to a child because of the small size of the feet.
