Lack of resources such as textbooks demoralize teachers to teach properly

One of the contributing factors that demotivate teachers to teach properly is a lack of resources, such as textbooks.

This was the view of Swakopmund Mayor Dina Namubes during a debate on the current school curriculum that she hosted in the town.

Namubes hopes that this debate will help improve education results for 2023 at Swakopmund.

"We hope that this message that comes out for this room will really help our future generation and our future leaders."

Hundreds of people witnessed the switching on of Christmas lights at Swakopmund, signaling the start of the festive season.

The municipality has invited both local and international tourists to visit Swakopmund and support all festivities as a way to revive the economy.

For about two years, COVID-19 adversely affected the socio-economic status of Namibia, and Swakopmund, which heavily relies on tourism, needed a plan to attract visitors and thereby revive its economy.

Swakopmund Municipality opens N$4-million dollar recreational facility at northern beach

The Swakopmund Municipality has officially opened a N$4 million outdoor recreation facility at the northern beach.

The northern beach is an area near Platz am Meer Mall, popularly known as OK Parking.

Despite the fact that the area previously lacked recreational facilities, hundreds of revelers flocked there to relax and braai.

The Swakopmund Municipality invested about N$4 million into developing the area to better serve the public.

The playground now caters to young and old, featuring a fenced playground, braai stands, and a kiosk.

Nedbank Desert Dash slated for December

The 18th edition of the Nedbank Desert Dash was launched at the Nedbank Sky Garden in Windhoek on Tuesday.

Organisers announced that the event will take place on the 9th of December in the form of a race that spans 393 kilometres between Windhoek and Swakopmund.

Nearly one-thousand entries had been received ahead of the launch of the Nedbank Desert Dash this morning, with international participants also set to compete in the event.
